TONIGHT – Artwork Commemoration Reception – 5:30-7pm
Don’t forget the Pollard Memorial Library Board of Trustees and the Pollard Memorial Foundation are set to unveil permanently installed restored pieces of artwork at a commemoration event TONIGHT Wednesday, December 5th from 5:30-7pm. The public is invited to attend.
Paintings to be celebrated include: the “Venezia’ painted by David Neal which depicts the Rialto bridge spanning the Grand Canal in Venice, Italy; a portrait of Frederick Stickney, the architect of the Pollard Library; several portraits of Daniel Webster, the senator from Massachusetts; and a portrait of Harriet Farley, co-editor of the Lowell Offering. New to the collection is a portrait of President Abraham Lincoln, presumed to be commissioned by Samuel Howes and some reproductions of of the library’s Audubon prints.
